2005 Muscat Canelli, Vin Doux Naturel

"Vin Doux Naturel" means "naturally sweet wine" refering to a fortified dessert wine whose sweetness comes from the sugar in the grapes. Similar to the way Portuguese dessert wines are produced we made this dessert wine by stopping the fermentation partway through. Then, we left it to mellow for two years in French oak and then over a decade in bottle for complete integration of its components and to develop depth & complexity.

The 2005 Muscat Cannelli is a beautifully aged wine that offers a rich and layered profile. On the nose, aromas of poached pear and spiced peach entice the senses, leading to a palate that is both complex and smooth boasting hints of maple syrup and amaretti cookies while a delicate coffee finish lingers softly on the back end, providing a touch of earthiness. This wine’s balance of fruit, spice, and richness makes it a captivating and memorable expression of Muscat Cannelli.
