2005 Muscat Canelli Vin Doux Naturel

"Vin Doux Naturel" means "naturally sweet wine" refering to a fortified dessert wine whose sweetness comes from the sugar in the grapes.

Similar to the way Portuguese dessert wines are produced we made this dessert wine by stopping the fermentation partway through. Then, we left it to mellow for two years  in French oak and then over a decade in bottle for complete integration of its components and to develop depth & complexity, With just 27 cases made, this unique and unctuous dessert wine boasts flavors reminiscent of spiced peach, poached pear, dried fig, amaretti cookies & orange peel to name a few.
