2019 Paso Robles Zinfandel

We are ecstatic to present a new vintage from this exceptional Paso Robles vineyard!

 

After a partial carbonic maceration, this wine underwent a high-temperature fermentation using natural yeasts for maximum terroir extraction & expression. Almost 2 years of barrel maturation was split between neutral & new Appalachian oak. This wine has a beautifully deep ruby color matched by bold aromas of tart cherry & chai. The style of fermentation gives this wine an intense characteristic of red fruit & baking spices. Its aftertaste & texture is reminiscent of dark chocolate, inviting your taste buds for another pour.

 

For a simple, elegant combination, try this wine with aged Gruyere. Though some red wines can make tomato-based sauces bitter, this is our go-to for sipping with marinara or pizza, while burgers, BBQ, & char-grilled veggies play on the spicy, warm notes. If you're looking for something sweet, try it with dark chocolate peanut butter cups - weird AND delicious!

 

WINEMAKER'S TASTING NOTES:

The 2019 Zinfandel from Paso Robles opens with an inviting and aromatic bouquet, where notes of chai, baking spice, and rich oak create a warm, spiced foundation. These aromatic layers are complemented by the luscious fruit character of raspberry jam, ripe strawberry, and a vibrant blueberry compote, offering a tantalizing interplay between spice and sweetness. On the palate, the wine is bold and expressive, with the smooth, dark chocolate notes adding depth and richness. The fruit flavors are bright and juicy, creating a balanced yet complex profile. A touch of oak and baking spice lingers on the finish, leaving a lasting impression of warmth and elegance.
