“Montage” is Big Dog Vineyards’ proprietary name used for our Red Blends. Born in 2011 from a lackluster harvest of our esteemed Cabernet Franc grape, our winemaker decided to blend it with Cabernet Sauvignon creating our first ever blend.
Since then, we have had five different vintages of our Montage, each year a little different, highlighting the best of each grape from each vineyard from a particular year.
This, our fifth vintage of our Montage blend is composed of 67% Merlot, 17% Malbec and 16% Cabernet Franc giving it a slight leathery, bright fruit aroma. It’s palate is smooth, bursting with hints of red cherry, mulberry and warm baking spices.
It’s excellent on it’s own but pairs superbly with pizza and pastas with a red sauce base. For a little sweet kick, try it with a warm cherry pie for dessert!
